Convent of Mercy Care Home - Colwyn Bay
OFFICIAL REOPENING
SISTER DYMPNA'S WELCOME SPEECH

Welcome to everyone here today.

Dear Deputy Mayor and Mayress of the Bay of Colwyn, Councillor Brian Cossey and Mrs Cossey; Fathers, Sisters, Ladies and Gentlemen.

We are standing in the same spot as those who originally opened the Home in May 1970 and it is good to have reached this day. It could not have happened with the finance and support of the Sisters of Mercy Leadership Team, nor without the Staff of the Home who maintained their humour and tolerance throughout nearly two years of upheaval. We have had the support and encouragement of the Community; the expertise and workmanship of the Builders and their advisors and many more. It would be unfair to single anyone out, for all have played their part

Catherine McAuley, our Foundress was a woman of great humanity, joy and trust. May we go forward with these qualities especially in these days of Laws and targets and overburdening paper work.

Thank you all for coming. May be a joy filled occasion for all of you.
